Water Boards

The Government of Belize in advancing the achievements of the SDGs and support for Agenda 2030 reflects a concerted effort to integrate support for mainstreaming the SDGs into sector plans and policies and building national capacities to monitor and report on SDG implementation.

Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Unit

Most people in urban areas have potable water piped into their homes. In some rural areas however, people do not have water piped into their homes and are dependent on vats, wells, rivers, streams or other sources of water. 

Village Councils

The village council system began around 1949 in Gales Point and 1951 in the Corozal district after hurricane Janet as means of helping with relief and reconstruction.
